Coral Gables’ newest restaurant Mamajuana Cafe opened its doors just shy of a month ago has been hosting some of Miami’s most elite events. Now, the venue’s ownership can add another to the list. Mamajuana will be the location for the official post awards soirée for Univision Networks annual red carpet fête “Premios lo Nuestro.”
Mamajuana Café opened their doors four weeks ago for a two day grand opening which left Coral Gables spinning. The red carpeted two day event welcomed over 1000 guests including politicians, professional athletes, and celebrities. After the grand opening Mamajuana Café has been flooded with reservation requests while their Friday happy hour has been the hot spot for the local business sector.
The “Premios” after party will undoubtedly be a fabulous star-studded affair. Complete with arrivals in some of the fanciest rides out there, a red carpet, and some of the music and entertainment industry’s most famous faces, Mamajuana will be the hottest place to be on March 26th, 2009. A pioneer of Nuevo Latin cuisine, Mamajuana Café’s own Chef Ricardo Cardona will delight guests will his unique fare as they sip on cocktails provided by Bacardi.
Aside from enlisting Chef Cardona, Carlos St. Hilaire and Victor Osorio, owners of Mamajuana hired stellar talent to join their staff including new addition Landy Labadie as Director of Operations. Labadie was brought in as he is backed by an incredibly strong resume. Following his start at Bongos Café after graduating from Florida State University, Labadie has risen through the ranks to reach director level positions in high-end venues such as The Tides Hotel, The Hotel Victor, Table Eight Restaurant, and Grove Isle Hotel and Spa. With a contact list that ranges from celebrities to athletes and politicians, Mr. Labadie knows how to cater to the soccer-mom, business executive and corporate CEO alike. Sitting as a Director or Executive committee member, Landy is active in various prominent South Florida organizations. The addition of Labadie shows Mamajuana Café’s commitment to excellence.
Labadie and his wonderful staff will take care of 500 plus VIP and A-list guests that will don their very best on the eve of the 26th of March. The Premios lo Nuestro Awards started on 1989 and have remained one of the hottest tickets of the season.
Mamajuana represents a place where all five of the senses will delight. The owners of Mamajuana Café considered every detail as they carefully blended pre-Columbian artifacts and feel with old world Spanish architecture. The name “Mamajuana” itself is derived from a drink created by the Taino Indians who are indigenous to the Dominican Republic. The Mamajuana drink is a concoction made of herbs, roots, rum, and wine which has been used as a cure all that treats everything from impotency to the flu.
