The holiday season in this town officially begins with the start of Art Basel Miami Beach, but if collectible art is not in your budget or on your Santa list, other cultural fares can get you into the spirit. From holiday concerts to film festivals, there is something for everyone that will warm the heart and inspire the creative mind.
For a twist on a classic, the Miami Men’s Gay Chorus performs “Miss Twinkleton’s Schools For Sensitive Boys Presents The Nutcracker: Men In Tights!” at the Colony Theatre in from December 19 through 21. The concert will be packed with the kind of humor and irreverence (with some sprinkles of nostalgia and sensitivity) everyone has grown to love from this all-volunteer Miami Beach chorus.
For a more traditional holiday concert, the Bass Museum of Art presents “Holiday Songs and Carols Around the World” on Sunday, December 14. This program presents an inspiring collection of European, American and Latin American carols. From a Gregorian chant to carols by contemporary composers, the classical interpretation of this eclectic collection of international carols will capture your attention and prepare you to celebrate the holiday season.
