New Tommy Hilfiger Store Comes to South Beach

August 28, 2008 by SouthBeachDaily

Tommy Hilfiger is opening of its first store in South Beach at 616 Collins Avenue.  Scheduled for an early fall opening, the debut of the South Beach store marks the company’s second South Florida location and ninth freestanding Tommy Hilfiger retail space in the United States.

“I am thrilled to be opening our South Beach store,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “With more than 12,000-square-feet of space, the store will combine the hip and vibrant culture of South Beach with our brand’s signature style.  Miami is an energetic and  international city, as well as the gateway to the Americas. I look forward to offering the brand’s Classic American Cool design aesthetic to South Beach locals and tourists.”

The store will feature pieces from the Tommy Hilfiger Collection as well as the best pieces from the U.S. and European sportswear, men’s and women’s swimwear and men’s suiting.  The store’s mezzanine level will house the women’s collection and will also feature high-end vintage clothing from some of fashion’s most prominent designers.

The two-story, freestanding South Beach store’s exterior will feature a white-trimmed, light blue façade while incorporating characteristics of South Beach’s historic Art Deco design. Lush bougainvillea plants cascade from the rooftop, creating a lively South Florida atmosphere. The interior features a chic mix of modern design and mid-century furnishings incorporating both city and shore style elements. The front porch recreates the feel of the quintessential Florida Room, complete with ceiling fans and live orchids.  Perfectly placed in the center of the store is a 14-foot cylindrical fish tank with exotic fish from around the world, surrounded by a mirror and white marble countertop.  The floors feature a mix of terrazzo with nickel inlay and crisp white resin, while the white oak walls are detailed with white tufted leather and hand-carved plaster relief panels. Mid-century lighting, tented macramé fitting rooms and vintage nickel shelving are some of the details that capture the “city and shore” design concept.

The South Beach store also has a unique addition in its back courtyard, a 700-square-foot surf shop. The surf shop will feature men’s and women’s swim collections, graphic tees, vintage surfboards and swim accessories. This unique landscaped area is ideal for customer-focused events complete with wine and champagne services to enhance the customer experience.
