This film is the tale of the unorthodox life of Pierrot, the annoying nickname given to unhappily-married Ferdinand Griffon by his babysitter/ex-girlfriend, Marianne Renoir. Like much pop art of the time, the film uses visuals drawn from cartoons and employs an intentionally garish visual aesthetic based on bright primary colors. In 1950s Miami, Lanny Morris (Kevin Bacon) and Vince Collins (Colin Firth) are superstar entertainers, an odd couple comedy act (based, loosely, on Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin and other lounge performers). The night a beautiful naked corpse is found in the bath of their hotel suite, the duo breaks up and they never speak again.
